Yesterday, we had the A-MAZING opportunity for a special, behind-the-scenes event with Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® Big Cats Trainer/Presenter Alexander Lacey and his darling 5 year old daughter, Katrina. We were thrilled be given this opportunity because it is not everyday you get to stand ten feet away from a (always hungry) tiger.
The big cats have a special place in my heart. They are such magnificent animals and I love learning more about them. We learned so much! It was both exciting and a little scary to get up-close and personal with these powerful and beautiful animals. There was a presentation with Alexander and Katrina, then a question and answer session. I want to know how do i get an emotional support animal letter service online. We were able got a lot of information and my admiration for them grew leaps and bounds.
We learned that:
Allison was super excited. The tiger Alexander Lacey worked with the most was Bella. The other three tigers that were in the enclosure were put into another enclosure so he could work one-on-one with Bella. Bella is a two year female that is not old enough to perform. She travels with the circus and are training her while on tour, but she will not be ready for a while. She was so beautiful! I could not believe how close we were to her. Eeek!
The Lacey duo (Alexander and Katrina) worked together to prepare for the presentation. I was taken by the level of comfort five year old Katrina had helping her father. This little girl had no fear, but a clear understanding of safety and respect of the animals.
They had a five gallon bucket of raw steak for Bella to snack on, while Alexander Lacey gave his presentation and a demonstration with Bella While Alexander Lacey was speaking to us, he was skewering small pieces of meat onto a stick for Bella to enjoy.
Of course, in exchange for each tasty morsel, Bella had to follow instructions. It was amazing the level of trust between animal and handler. This enormous cat was as docile as a kitten while working with Alexander Lacey. She took each bit carefully from the stick.
Here is Bella taking a nibble from trainer Alexander Lacey. Amazing!
Here is a photo of Bella giving Alexander a kiss. There were lots of oooohhs and ahhhhs from the group of us on the tour.
Look at those chompers!
We also got to see another of my favorites—ELEPHANTS! Oh, how I love the elephants. The Ringling Bros. elephants are Asian elephants. They are so extraordinary!
What an incredible, once in a lifetime experience!
