I like to run with some sort of audio playing in my ears. Whether it is watching Netflix and episodes of my most recent obsession of Breaking Bad or blasting a selection of my favorite eclectic mix of music that I decided I want to learn how to create and produce after reading about studio monitors and how they work, I prefer to have something to help me pass the time (or the miles). What really frustrates me, however is when the earbuds do not stay in place when I am running. Do I have abnormally sweaty ears? I don’t know why they fall out when I get about a mile and half in. Additionally, they often become very uncomfortable in my ears and often end up hung around my neck after a few short miles, as I cannot withstand them in my ears the entire workout. I hate fussing with equipment when I am running. I want to put my shoes on and get my workout on—not be adjusting everything. Why can’t it be easy?
I had an opportunity to review a pair of earbuds that promised to be different than what I was used to. I agreed to give them a try and did not think too much about them again. A few days later, I received a lovely package from the amazing people from Yurbuds.
They gave me a pair of purple Yurbuds, a Luna bar, a towel with “Inspire” imprinted across it and a headband. It was a lovely presentation. If there is one thing I love, it is a package in the mail. I guess that is two things, but they are mutually exclusive. I love getting packages in the mail and Yurbuds sent me ear buds in my favorite color. They were already on my Christmas card list.
I have similar problems with headbands as I do ear buds. They never stay put because I have a very small head. Usually, if I choose a hat, I am looking in the kids’ department. Nothing ever fits right. Evidently, I am she of little brain. I end up wrapping the headband around my wrist or ditching it all together. In all honestly, I did not expect this one to be different. Thankfully, I was completely wrong!
I put my running shoes on, set-up my laptop with my favorite show, put the headband on, then plugged in the Yurbuds. With the Yurbuds, they need to be placed in the ears and then given a little twist to lock them in place.
This video shows how easy it is:
1. I started out slowly, as I am used to earbuds pulling out after a few steps. At one point, I pulled away from the laptop ever so slightly, expecting them to be painfully jerked out of one or both of my ears. To my delight, they remained in place and I was able to crank up the pace and run peacefully with awesome acoustics.
2. I am not one to enjoy loud volume. I like to be able to hear whatever I am listening to, however as a normal conversational volume. I love when the volume control is on the cord of the earbuds, which means I don’t have to mess with the volume on the device, whether it be an Ipod, laptop or cell phone. If the music or show gets too loud, I can turn it down. If I am struggling to hear it, with a quick slide of the button, I can crank it up. Easy peasy! Yurbuds has this sort of feature available on their product. LOVE!
3. The earbuds were extremely comfortable. I have found in the past that the little mesh earbud covers often get lost or fall off after a few wears. I cannot even recall the number of the times I have come home without the earbud cover from the gym or from a run. Honestly, I never find them to make the earbuds comfortable to begin with. With the silicone Yurbuds, I found them to be quite comfortable and securely covering the earbud. Ahhh. Comfort!
4. My headband? Well, not only did it stay in place, I did not have to touch it once! It looks super cute and keeps my fly-away hair out of my face while running.
I am enjoying my new Yurbuds and not having to fuss with keeping everything in place.
