I was honored to be invited to TheFitExpo Los Angeles. There was quite a bit of excitement going into the event. The one HUGE thing I couldn’t wait to do, was to do the Body Shred work out with Jillian Michaels. For that, there was both fear and anticipation—because whoa! She’s intense! I was excited about the sessions they were offering, the competitions that were going to be going on and meeting new fitness lovers, like myself. The schedule was so jam-packed full of education, meet and greets, competitions throughout the day, and the expo hall at the Los Angeles Convention Center is MASSIVE!
I arrived early Saturday morning at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The energy inside was immediately the first thing I noticed. The lines were already starting and the excitement was infectious! I found my way to the VIP suite, where the ten or so of us FitFluential Ambassadors were meeting up with the organizers of TheFitExpo. The passion of the organizers of TheFitExpo was palpable. The expo has transformed over the years from merely an expo, where vendors introduce their products, to an event where fitness education happens on a grand scale. It’s possible to earn fitness units at the expo and to become certified—all in a weekend of fun! This fitness expo has been so well-thought out. We had the opportunity to walk the expo hall before the crowds were let in, which gave us the opportunity to get the layout of the booths and competition areas. Wow! It was so much to take in!
Fitness Career Center at TheFitExpo Los Angeles
One of my stops I made during my two days at the expo, was the Fitness Career Center. I was really impressed with the resources here. I had the chance to speak to the executive director of NAFC at the Fitness Career Center, who explained the goal of the center. While there are numerous careers available in the fitness industry, there’s a very small percentage of certified fitness trainers that are actually making a living and working in the area of fitness. It is the goal of the Fitness Career Center to provide support to those wishing to turn their passion for exercise and fitness into a viable career. Not only is the NAFC available to answer all the questions one might have about choosing a career in fitness, they help certified trainers to find employment in their area of expertise and fulfill their dream of teaching others. They have both the resources and willingness to help newly certified trainers and nutrition coaches what they need to become successful.
At the Fitness Career Center, I was able to talk to a variety of representatives of branded programs, such a Jillian Michaels Body Shred, Red Warrior, and Pop Pilates, as well as fitness clubs and facilities, such as YMCA and Crunch Fitness that were there to reach out to the attendees of the expo. It was eye-opening to find out how many fitness opportunities there are out there! No matter your passion, if a job in fitness is something you’re interested in, there’s something for everyone!
On Saturday and Sunday, I had the chance to try a few different fitness classes on the expo floor. All I can say, is that Monday, I was so sore! Saturday, I worked out with Jillian Michaels and got my booty kicked in the Body Shred class (Stay tuned for that post!). I got my abs ripped in the Pop Pilates class. The passion and energy in the expo was contagious! I left the expo with so much more information, excitement, motivation, and love for the fitness world. I’m so grateful to have been a part of this amazing event and I’m already planning ahead for the next FitExpo coming to Anaheim in August!
TheFitExpo Los Angeles invited me to their event for the purpose of helping to promote the event. I was given the complimentary entrance for review purposes only. All opinions are 100% mine.
