Tonight was the first track workout of the marathon season. I had butterflies before I went. The workouts are always intense on the track and it is a great place to get injured if one is not too careful. I was careful. I pushed myself, but I was careful.
When I first got to the stadium, I was looking for familiar faces (like Dani, or AKA Alice, or Irene). When I finally gave up, I turned and there all three of them were standing together. Aka Alice and Irene know each other, but Dani does not know them. It was sort of silly, in a good way, because there was my tribe and I am all about finding my tribe! I did not get to talk to them as much as I would have liked, but it was great seeing familiar faces—especially these three awesome women.
The track workout was a fun one. We did 8 laps around the track. We did strides on the straight-a-ways and jogged or walked on the curves. At the end of it, I clocked 2.85 miles and 13,417 steps for the day. I felt some burning in my calves, as they are not as strong as they used to be. Well, THAT and the fact that I have a good 20 extra pounds since the last time I ran. I could feel it, too! I walked about 1/2 of the curves and jogged the other half. I let it all out at the straight-a-ways. I was surprised at what I could do. I was doing 8:30-9:30 during the straight-a-way parts when I looked at my gps during some of the parts.
I did my Mamavation workouts today too, so my eyelids are wanting to close. I cannot lift my arms from the workout either. It is called “Mama Guns.” Then, I did 100 sit-ups. Ouchie! That is all going to hurt tomorrow!
As I was leaving, I realized that I dropped my pedometer somewhere out on the track. I searched and searched, until some very nice people joined the search party—to no avail. Brand new pedometer—GONE! Bummer! I trekked on over to Target to get another one. Now, I am ready for tomorrow.
To sum it up, I am really excited about this new journey I am on. I am receiving so much support from so many people! I am going to go to bed tonight feeling like the luckiest girl in the world!
