I love gadgets. I love technology. I especially love fitness gadgets! I love new ways to help me measure my effort, progress and to hold my interest. For me, exercise is a ritualistic and I love any tools that can aid me in reaching my goals. That is why I was thrilled when Verizon loaned me the FitBit Zip to try out for myself. I have many friends that have one of their own and I couldn’t wait to link up and get to calculating my steps.
The tiny Little Fit Bit is an amazing fitness technology gadget!
I have to admit, I can be competitive sometimes. I LOVE the friendly competition of the sharing my steps with friends. It is truly amazing how many extra steps I was willing to take when that Fit Bit Zip was calculating each and every one, then sharing them with my FitBit friends. I went from getting 5000 to 8000 steps a day to nearly 30,000 steps in a day, only by increasing my awareness. I have a pedometer that I have used over the years, but clipping on the Fit Bit and making my progress public made me want to put my best foot forward.

My daughter and I were both excited to track our steps as we took a long walk around our neighborhood. If we do a loop of the neighborhood, it is a mile. We wanted to know how many steps that would be! I was really surprised how quickly I could reach my goal of 10,000 steps, when I took small measures, such as parking a little further away, taking small walks and spending a few extra minutes on the treadmill. I found myself WANTING to make the extra trip up the stairs to put things away. I have to admit, sometimes I can be very lazy about going up and down the stairs.
I hit my target of 10,000 steps!
The FitBit is such a fun, easy tool to use and have decided to order my own. I think I’m going to get the Fit Bit One, which features the ability to analyze how well you are sleeping at night. It tracks your wake and sleep cycles, letting you know how many times you woke up in the night. What I loved about the FitBit, is has a wireless dongle that it plugs right into your computer, then, just being near the computer while wearing the Fit Bit, my steps were synced.
The FitBit is such a fun tool to weight loss and good health. I cannot wait to get one of my very own. If you are on FitBit Connect, join me on there: mommycanrun.
Disclaimer: I was sent the FitBit Zip from Verizon Wireless to try out for a few weeks, in exchange for my honest review. I was not compensated for this review. I have now purchased my very own FitBit on my own and would only recommend brands and products I personally believe in.
