I’ve Officially Lost 50 Pounds!

May 31, 2016 by Laura Lohr 4 Comments

MayIt has been a few weeks since I posted anything about my weight loss. Between running two half marathons, doing the mom thing, and caring for our sick dog, I failed to mention that I’ve officially lost 50 pounds! It has been quite a journey and I’m so proud that I’ve stuck with it! Victory, while sweet, has not been without struggles, trials, frustrations, and doubts. But, here I am! 50 pounds lighter!

me_stitchfix_2
This is me in one of the Stitch Fix outfits I recently purchased. I’m enjoying being able to grab whatever I want to wear! Shopping has been so much more enjoyable!

I have been running so much over the past few months. I’ve been swimming in the pool with Mr. Bear when I can, since I didn’t in the past because I couldn’t find what to wear but recently I found the perfect plus size swimwear that fits just right for me. I have been so consistent with my exercise and it is really paying off! The one thing that has made the most difference, however, is the way my eating habits have changed. I now make time for breakfast, even if it’s just a bar on the go. I try my very hardest to fuel my body properly, and in doing so, making good choices about what I eat! This is one of the most difficult things I’ve done in my life. I have to stay consistent! I have to make sacrifices and sometimes that is not easy!

Running and exercise, in general, has gotten significantly easier. I can run quite a few miles without stopping now. I don’t get winded when I’m exercising as much. I’m running a solid 10-11:30 mile per minute pace, which is AMAZING for me! It has been many years since running was this easy! I’m ENJOYING running so much more, because it’s easier and because I’m getting better at it! I had so many years where running was just too hard for me. I kept getting injured. I know that my weight had such a huge role in that! It’s so nice to feel lighter on my feet and do what I love so much!

A much more confident me, now enjoys getting my picture taken. This selfie was taken on the Tinkerbell Half Marathon course, at California Adventure.

I’m still going to Lindora for maintenance, but I’m not actively on their program. I am still using all the tools they taught me and I still get my B12 booster and lipotropic injections. I love the staff! They have been so helpful and supportive! I’m so glad to have found a program that I can see myself using for the rest of my life!

I feel like a completely different person now! I'm so much more confident!

Clothes shopping has become such a blast now! It used to be such a chore, but I really am enjoying it! I got to small for most of my clothes and I’ve had to add some staples to my wardrobe. It has been a love-hate relationship I’ve had with shopping for so long. I don’t expect anything to look right or fit right. It is strange to look at myself in the mirror now. I expect to see the same overweight person I used to see months ago. Instead, I see this thinner face staring back at me and a much more athletic physique. It is still taking some getting used to! When I go shopping, I often select sizes I know fit me, yet I begin doubting they will, as I’m looking at them before trying them on. Then, I look in the mirror and see they actually do fit. I still can’t believe it!

My next race on the horizon is the America’s Finest City Half Marathon in San Diego. It isn’t until August 21st, so I have plenty of time to prepare. I know I’m in much better shape now than I was at the Carlsbad Half Marathon in January. The AFC Half is one of my all-time favorite races and I’m looking very forward to it! It is known for having record heat during the race. I’m a little worried about that. I know it’ll be fine, nonetheless, I’ve got some hard training in the heat to do to prepare!

Tell me! What is your biggest weight loss motivation? Is it bathing suit season? Fitting into your wedding dress again? What keeps you motivated to lose weight? What keeps you going?

Fitness Friday 45 Pounds Gone!

April 8, 2016 by Laura Lohr 4 Comments

Before and AfterAfter a really difficult plateau last month, where I barely scraped by with any weight loss (4 pounds? I think!), I finally hit several milestones. I’ve lost more than 20% of starting weight and I’m down 45 pounds! It has sometimes been hard-earned weight loss. It has been frustrating! I’ve felt like I am not making progress as quick as I’d like.

Through it all, however, I keep on going! Even when it’s difficult and frustrating, I keep on going! It has helped so much to have the accountability 5 days a week at Lindora. They’ve helped me find hidden mistakes I’ve made, they’ve encouraged me, recommended me where to get womens fat burners – best buy in the UK, they’ve taught me about the science of weight loss and to keep on trucking along, no matter what the scale has said. They’ve taught me to look at other signs I’m on the right track—like inches lost, or fitting into clothes I’ve never fit in, or haven’t fit into in a long while.

I’m down to a weight I haven’t seen in about 10 years or so and the scale is still moving! Unbelievably awesome! I currently have not one single item of clothing I can’t fit into and I bought a two piece bathing suit for the first time in many years!

When I look in the mirror lately, I hardly believe what I see! I see a different person! Someone that has transformed into someone new! I am stronger, leaner, but mostly importantly, much more confident! I have been running a lot lately. I’ve been running a 10 mile long run on the weekends, in preparation for the La Jolla Half Marathon, then, I’ve been running 3-5 other shorter, faster runs during the week. I’ve seen myself get much faster and that is building even more confidence.

When others see me, they have been reassuring me with their compliments everywhere I go! I get complimented all the time now, because the transformation is difficult to deny! I feel fantastic with this weight loss and the fact that others notice too, is really boosting my confidence and motivating me to finish what I’ve started!

See the location to ensure appropriate allocation of resources, and that they achieve clinical outcomes and professional standards.

I just signed up for the Tinkerbell Half Marathon at Disneyland on Mother’s Day. I’ve always wanted to do this race! It has been on my short list of half marathons to complete for years! I’ve always missed the deadline to register, or it has been too expensive (and it’s an expensive race! Damn Disney!). This time, however, the universe came together for me to run the event with a charity that I fully support: Racing for Orphans with Down Syndrome. I’m so excited to be a part of this group and to run this race! It’s going to be so much fun!

It’s been a crazy ride, this past 5 months! Nevertheless, to lose 45 pounds in 5 months and completely change my life has been AMAZING! I feel like my life has changed so much in the past two years! Two years ago, I was overweight, I was frustrated, I was dealing with debilitating anxiety, and I had given up all hope of running, losing weight, and doing all the things that are now part of my life. I’m so grateful that this little life of mine, step-by-step, day-by-day, little changes have added up to these phenomenal life changes. I love my life now! It’s really an incredible transformation!

I am so thankful for the opportunity I’ve had to work with Lindora. 6 months ago, I had no hope. When I was offered the opportunity to try Lindora, I had no idea how life changing it was going to be. I was desperate and ready to try extreme measures to lose weight. Thankfully, I haven’t had to do anything drastic and I’ve truly learned how to be “Lean for Life.” I am looking forward to losing the rest of this weight and finally reaching my goals! For those who don’t have the possibility of working with Lindora, I suggest to check the rugby gym program which is a great one.

Disclosure: I have been offered a 10 weeks with Lindora, in exchange for sharing my personal opinions and experiences with Lindora. All opinions are my own. I only share information about products, companies, and services I believe will be helpful for my readers. I’m losing weight and following the plan on Lindora and loving it!

Fitness Friday SuperBowl Edition

February 5, 2016 by Laura Lohr Leave a Comment

FitnessFriday

FitnessFridayHappy Fitness Friday! I’m so happy to be here this week! It was a fantastic week! I have so much to look forward to this weekend and next week!

Sunset_Cliffs2
Sunset Cliffs, where Mr. Bear and I got married.

First of all, we are traveling to Monterrey today to visit my mother in law and my husband’s uncle. His uncle is giving us TWO SUPERBOWL TICKETS! How lucky are we? I’m so excited! I gave up my seat for my ten year old daughter. She is a loyal Broncos fan and I know this is the chance of a lifetime for her. So, her and Daddy are going to have a NFL experience most people don’t get in their lifetimes! I’m sad I’m going to miss it, yet I know how much it will mean to my husband and daughter to spend this special day together. What an experience!

The best candidate for LA Lipo Northampton is someone who is in excellent health, is within 25 pounds of his or her ideal body weight, and has deposits of fat that have not responded to diet or exercise.

Because it’s Superbowl and because I just completed my first program with Lindora, I’m going to take this opportunity to enjoy myself while we’re traveling. I may splurge on some football goodness while we are away. I mean, for me, my favorite part of Superbowl really is the food! Hahaha! Excuse me, while I enjoy a thing or two. Then, come Monday, it’s back to program for another 10 weeks! I’m so delighted that I’ve got another program to start!

My goal on this next 10 week program is 35 pounds. I’d love to see another 35 pounds gone! That would take me so close to my goal. I’m going to stick very close to the rules this time around, just like I did last time. This last time, I lost 32.5 pounds, when I was at my lowest during the 10 weeks. I’m confident, however much weight I lose, I’ll be happy! This has been such a rewarding experience!

I went to the spot Mr. Bear and I got married yesterday. I was just thinking about how beautiful and confident I felt walking down the aisle, down to the ocean, at Sunset Cliffs. I want to feel that same confidence again!

Sunset_Cliffs1
Sunset Cliffs, San Diego. Where I married my best friend!

This past week, I’ve seen myself grow so much as a runner. I’m not just running faster, I’m running longer distances without stopping. The La Jolla Half Marathon is a hilly race. There’s one hill, specifically, at mile 6 that really is steep! The race really is infamous for that one steep hill that makes even the most fit of runners question their sanity! The elevation goes from sea level to 440 feet in the matter of two miles. Then, at the end, there’s another small hill before you finish the race. The great thing about the race, is that the course is absolutely stunning! The steep incline winds between the Torrey Pine trees and much of the course yaws along one of the most scenic areas along the Pacific Ocean.

ljhm-course-map,-photo

I’ve run through this area before and it’s a favorite for its majestic beauty. The La Jolla Half is the only race I’ve ever received a Do Not Finish for. It was approximately 4 years ago and I only got about 4 miles in before injury, anxiety, and lack of training took me out of the race. It’s a huge milestone to be tackling this race again. I’m really excited about slaying this dragon of mine.

My friend Mollie and I have been running with my dog Layla at 5:30 a.m. during the week, whenever we can. We are tackling the hills that envelop our neighborhood. I’ll admit, it’s quite intimidating when I think about the hills we’re going to run, so I don’t think about them much! I put my headphones on, try to control my breathing and then I try to keep up with Mollie! She’s a lot faster than me and sometimes I feel like I’m holding her back. Nonetheless, like a great friend, she nevers makes me feel that way. She encourages me and cheers me on. In spite of the daunting paths that lie ahead of us, I feel inspired. It’s giving me a lot of confidence I haven’t had in a long time!

Tomorrow, I’m going to run in Monterrey and get 7 miles in. I can’t believe I’m already up to 7 miles for this training schedule! Amazing! I’m sticking to my goals and making real changes!

My dear readers, have you stuck to your New Year’s Resolutions? Have you made a change you’re proud of? Share what you’re proud of!

Happy running! Have a safe Super Bowl weekend!

Fitness Friday New Year 2016 Edition

January 8, 2016 by Laura Lohr 2 Comments

FitnessFriday

Fitness&HealthFriday

Welcome to the 2016 Fitness Friday! This has been such an exciting month! We had a busy month, yet it was very exciting! I got sick halfway through December, which put a huge damper on things. I had to fake it when I was feeling awful, however I eventually felt better and had no regrets. We went on vacation over Christmas, which should have made my diet and exercise a challenge. It really didn’t. I’ve been so committed to losing weight and getting healthy, I was able to overcome anything that looked like an obstacle! I just completed the 6th week on Lindora* and things are looking really good!

Here’s my stats, as of Friday—-DRUM ROLL PLEASE….

Total weight lost since my first weigh in: 24.5 pounds!

Total weight lost since starting Lindora: 21.5 pounds!

I cannot believe how great I feel! I’m wearing clothes I haven’t worn in YEARS! It’s a fantastic feeling!

For Christmas, we went to Sedona and Grand Canyon. While we were there, we did some hiking, took lots of walks, and of course, did the Pink Jeep Tour.

We went hiking on the Boynton Canyon Trail and saw amazing panoramic views. We went to the Chapel of the Holy Cross and saw more amazing views :

So, as you can see, Christmas break was no joke for us! We stayed active, exploring Arizona’s majestic landscape! It was so beautiful and such a peaceful way to celebrate our Christmas, as a family. Mr. Bear and I went to Sedona the Christmas before Allie was born. We had such great memories of our trip this was a different experience, to go as a family, rather than a couple, yet no less special the first time or this time. We have so many cherished memories and Allie was old enough to really appreciate it this time.

The Carlsbad Half Marathon is coming soon and I’m really getting nervous! I was sick for two weeks and didn’t run for two weeks. I only have two weeks or training left and I’m second-guessing myself, whether I’m ready for this. I’ve come such a long, long way from where I came from, the beginning of January 2015—when I couldn’t run a full mile without stopping. I’ve dropped more than 10% of my body weight, which makes it so much easier to run. I’m not dragging extra weight when I run. I don’t expect to run very fast—or, even to run the whole half marathon, nevertheless, it’s a start!

My goal is to complete the Triple Crown Half Marathon Series this year. This consists of three of San Diego’s most popular race courses: Carlsbad Half Marathon, La Jolla Half Marathon, and America’s Finest City Half Marathon (AFC). I’ve run the AFC a number of times through the years. In fact, the AFC 5k was my first 5k race I ever did and then I was HOOKED on running races! I know that the more I run, the better shape I’ll be in. I’m really excited about this year!

What did you do to stay healthy during the holidays? What goals do you have for 2016? What are YOU excited about in 2016?

Happy New Year from me to you!

Fitness and Health Friday 12/4

December 4, 2015 by Laura Lohr Leave a Comment

FitnessFriday

Fitness&HealthFridayThis week has been a doozy! Wow! What a struggle! I gained and lost the same three pounds all week long! This Fitness Friday celebrates perseverance, for sure! I’m losing inches, but the weight loss slowed a little bit. I think I should try the weight loss plan from reportshealthcare, I would improve so much. My stats?

Weight Loss to date:

Since my first consultation: -13 pounds

Since starting the Lindora program: -10 pounds

There has been a ton on non-weight loss victories on this journey. My clothes are fitting me better. I have more energy although for this I also take supplements as patriot power greens. I’m losing inches. My self-confidence has improved, because I know I am doing good things for my health and well-being. One of the most common causes of exercising is https://www.healthmagaz.com/joints/hip-pain/hip-pain-symptoms-causes-risks-complications-diagnosis-treatment-and-prevention/. You run too much. It’s fun and amazing, but it’s also hard on your body.
Despite my best efforts in both exercise and diet, the scale didn’t move for several days. You may also look for Alpha GPC Amazon. This is a phospholipid that has been shown to support cognition and mental performance in a healthy way.
Take a look at these great ten machines to monitor your health.

In fact, it bounced up, then came back down, then back up. Fortunately, one of the nurses at Lindora talked me off the ledge and reminded me of all the GOOD that was happening. It’s hard to put down the stick, when you’re so used to beating yourself up with it!

Thanksgiving was wonderful! We went to my parent’s house in my hometown and had Thanksgiving. It was difficult to stay on my diet plan, but I somehow managed to do it! I did make sure I was prepared before I went and that helped so much. The Friday after Thanksgiving, we went to Knott’s Berry Farm with the family. I packed a lunch, so I wouldn’t be tempted by the boysenberry stuffed churros that I have fallen head over heels in love with. I managed to do it! Getting treated for gonorrhea wasn’t even as difficult as I thought it would be!

Sunday, something magical happened! I ran 6.5 miles! 6.5 miles! I did it! I couldn’t believe it! I planned out a 6 mile run and ended up going over by a half mile. I took my little Layla dog out with me on my run and we had perfect weather for a beautiful run around the neighborhood. There were plenty of hills to challenge me and I met the challenges with enthusiasm! I’m seeing my pace improve, my stamina improve, and my confidence soar!

I just upgraded my RunKeeper for half off on Cyber Monday, so now I can see beautiful graphs of my progress, make goals, and it is so much fun! It is one of my very favorite apps to keep me motivated on a run. I have it set-up to tell me when I’ve reached each mile marker and every 5 minutes it tells me my distance and my pace. I love my RunKeeper app!

This unplanned pregnancy journey I’m on is so exciting! It’s challenging, but I think I am finally ready to really put the effort in to get the results I want. It has been so helpful to go to my daily Lindora check-in 5 days a week. I feel like I have accountability and can’t get away with cheating on this diet. I mean, cheating on the diet only cheats me anyway. Experience an amazing vaping with cleito coils for Aspire.

What’s your favorite app that keeps you on track with your health and fitness?
