Everyone is asleep right now and I finally have a minute to myself. It has been totally insane in this house. I am up to my eyeballs in household chores and the baby wants to play all the time. How can I resist? She is doing so many cool things these days.
Well, looks like I can RUN! I started seeing the chiropractor last week. I was feeling totally defeated and did not think I was going to be able to do the marathon. I drowned out my pain with lots of extra helpings at dinner that have made me into a much portlier (F7/Spellcheck told me that IS a word.) individual.
I tried to run on Saturday and only managed to get a mile out before I turned around and headed another mile back to my car. I had accepted my fate: canceling the marathon. Then, I went back to the Chiropractor on Monday, felt better, and ran for 45 whole minutes. Last night I did the track workout: 8 X 800 meters with 400-ish meters of jogging in between. Tonight I did 40 minutes on the treadmill. While I am not setting any PR’s or setting land speed records, progress is progress, and I can see myself at the finish line of the marathon.
I have a 22 mile run on Saturday. I am just hoping for the best.
I still have some pain, but it is manageable and seems to get better every day. See, prayer does work, I guess: even though the skeptic in me did not believe I would ever run again….SO DRAMATIC….GEEZ!
We have been incredibly busy each and every weekend since April. It seems like since we got back from Seattle, we have been doing SOMETHING with SOMEONE every weekend. Regrettably, we have had to decline some invitations because we just cannot keep up. The pace has been crazy.
We went and helped my grandmother get some things together on her house this past weekend. It is cool how my family has really come together to help her out. It has been nice to visit with family and great to see the united front that has developed as a result. There is a birthday party for my cousin’s little boy this weekend and if it was not $100 for gas to go up there, we sure would go 🙁
Allison has been sleeping in her! Own! Bed! That! Deserves! More! Explanation! Marks! Damn it!!!!!!!!! She sleeps so much better in her own bed. I think she was getting woken up when we moved in the night or something, because it has been so much better now. What a dream!
She is totally amazing.
Well, that is a quick and dirty update. I am going to try to find my way through the laundry to get more updates on here and be a better blogger. We will see what happens.
I have not weighed myself in about two weeks. The last time I was on the scale, I had not gained or lost. Now that I have been unable to run, I may have gained, but I do not know yet. I am going to Weight Watchers tomorrow to get back to it. I am taking it in stride, whatever happens. My obsessive weighing is going to stop. I am going to try to weigh in at my weigh in and no other time. Hopefully, that will help me be accountable at the end of the week.
