We spent another wonderful day exploring the Big Island. We drove from Kailua-Kona, where we are staying, all the way over to Hilo. Along the way, we stopped at the Kalopa Native Forest State Park, where we did a three-ish mile hike. It took us a couple hours and we were surrounded by many beautiful things. Then, we went to Akaka State Falls park and enjoyed the waterfalls. It exceeded my expectations. It was phenomenal! We ended our busy and fun day with dinner in Hilo with our gracious tour guides (my mom’s cousin and her family). It was an amazing, amazing day!
I am not sure what to post first! I was experimenting with different camera techniques and was pleased with the results. Here are some of my favorites:
Along the trail to the waterfall.
As we were leaving the Kalopa rainforest, the biggest and most beautiful rainbow I have ever seen was before us.
This was some mushrooms on a log we saw while walking through the rain forest. It was stunning and other-worldly, all at the same time.
I have never seen so many varieties of fern. B E A U T I F U L!
These last two I did using a photographic technique I had read about. They remind me of Impressionist paintings and I am in love with them. I took almost 600 photos just today.
I love this vacation! We are having the best time!
