I recently made the trek to my parent’s house in the Mojave Desert. I drove up about 8:00 p.m. one night with two of my nieces (my brother’s children) in tow. It made for entertaining travels to be sure. While visiting, my sister, niece, and I went to the day spa to have our hair styled. I went red again, as I really like to do from time to time. (If anyone can tell me what it takes to make the color last longer this time, I will love you forever!) I have bangs! (I think that is a first in some time) WHOO HOO! Last night was the first time I had styled it since I had it done. I am very pleased.
When I arrived home, pretty flowers were waiting for me. 🙂 What a sweet man Eric is! There is so much going on in our lives right now and so much fun stuff ahead. He surprises me all the time.
After getting some rest, my perspective has been refreshed and my spirit renewed. The lack of sleep literally hurts sometimes. Additionally, having all three of us sick is not simlifying anything either. Nonetheless, there are many things that we have to look forward to; but even advantageous events can create positive stress. We do need to slow down.
It is all going so well! I just downloaded my stats from my fancy schmancy Garmin 305. My splits were between 9:30-10:45 per mile. I feel confident about this season. I feel as though my breakthrough is near. I feel strong and exhilarated.
This morning I did yoga at the gym. I was a bit frightened actually. Almost a year ago, I took this class with this particular instructor I had this morning. She did not have the soothing, calming personality one comes to expect from a YOGA instructor. In fact, I felt more stressed at the end of the season. The drill sergeant aspect of it all did not give me a warm tingly feeling. Today, however, she was quite congenial and it was enjoyable. The classes at the gym are a compliment to my training.
On February 3rd, I will be running my first race of the season. This is my third year doing the Super Run 10K. I am hoping for a PR on this race. It is one of my favorite races I have done in San Diego.
More Pleasure 🙂
We discovered this evening we must book our trip to Hawaii before July, or we lose our tickets (which we purchased June 2006). This also dictates that we do so before our European trip. This is a magnificent dilemma to have! Honolulu in March ought to be extraordinary! We have Cleveland in April. New York in September. Palm Springs in June (the weekend before we go to Europe!) We will be jet-setters once again!
Allison, My Joy and Daddy to the Rescue
The past several weeks, Allison has begun to sing and dance whenever and where ever she can. Her current favorite song is “Old Mc Donald.” She can be brought from tears and drama to laughter and smiles with the first three keys of a nursery rhyme. She is climbing on the chairs, onto the couch, into the dishwasher, and is quite agile. She can melt my heart, that girl!
The babbling is so cute. One of the cutest things she is doing now, is she grabs the phone out of my hand and starts saying, “HI! HI!! HI!” Every once in a while, she throws in, “E-I-E-I, E-I-E-I.” When we left breakfast this morning, she waved to everyone in the room and said, “Bye BYE!”
I looked at my little baby with wonder tonight. Where is my baby? I have an independent little girl that watches and repeats everything she sees. I have grown so fond of my little girl, even as she grows into a bigger little girl. Her spirit is the perfect mix of Eric and I both. The love I have for that child is something I cannot even describe. I have so much fun with her.
Unfortunately, the sweet little pea is sick. This is the first time she has been sick. She has been coughing, sneezing, and very sad. Last night, she was up at 2:00 a.m. with a productive cough. Eric drove to the only 24 hour pharmacy near our neighborhood (which was actually downtown San Diego).
2:00 a.m., with a child, has completely changed. Our lives and focus will never be the same.
Back on track: I will not be stepping on the scale until Friday, but everything is looking up. I am doing much better. I will be in Hawaiian bikini shape in two months. Watch my progress. Watch me melt away!
Projects starting soon: including our jacuzzi! Wooo Hooo!
